ComfortCare Homes voted 'Best in Wichita' for memory care

Recognition adds layer to 30th anniversary celebration

ComfortCare Homes, which has been delivering innovative dementia and Alzheimer’s care to the region since 1993, has been named a 2023 ‘Best of Wichita’ winner in the field of memory care.

“We believe this recognition is a testament to our people and our longevity,” said Micala Gingrich-Gaylord, CEO of ComfortCare Homes. “As we begin our next 30 years, we can’t help but pause to reflect on the wonderful families who have placed their trust in us over the past three decades.”

ComfortCare will soon be expanding their circle of care offerings, with a grand opening slated before Christmas for their newly expanded property at 441 Morningside in Wichita.

“We also have new construction taking place on the west side of town,” said Gingrich-Gaylord. “We opened two homes in 2020 and this will be our third at the corner of 29th and Tyler.”

Additionally, Director of Nursing for ComfortCare Homes, Jamie Loest, was recently given a nursing excellence award, while Gingrich-Gaylord was honored as a health care hero.

“We continue to invest in our area through memberships on area boards and community organizations,” she said. “We are Wichita proud!”

About ComfortCare Homes

At ComfortCare Homes, our legacy comes from family caregivers who sought a better model of care. Through the experiences of caring for their grandparents, the Stark family developed one of the first residential dementia care programs in the country, inspiring the creation of the HomePlus state accreditation and changing the landscape of professional Alzheimer’s and dementia care in the process.

Alzheimer’s disease affects nearly six million Americans, a population expected to nearly double by 2060. Initially manifesting as a memory disorder, Alzheimer’s is a degenerative form of dementia that can impair cognition as well as physical functioning. The amount and quality of care required by people afflicted by this terrible disease can be considerable, and strain even the most dedicated family caregivers.

Over the more than 25 years that ComfortCare Homes has been serving our community, we’ve consistently strived to go beyond the basics and provide innovative dementia care for our residents and their families. Throughout our tenure as the region’s premier dementia care provider, our work has been recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association, the State of Kansas and the Wichita Chamber of Commerce, among others.

ComfortCare Homes is a 'Best of Wichita' 2023 winner in the field of memory care.
