Heartstrings of Hope
The COVID-19 pandemic has upended routine life across the country and impacted the health and safety of millions of people. Older generations have been especially hard hit, with nursing homes and other senior care communities experiencing greater vulnerability.
Throughout the quarantine, ComfortCare Homes engaged with our residents, listening to their stories and sharing their joys and sorrows. We heard so much wisdom that was both timely and timeless, and while we wanted to share their words with the Wichita community, the quarantine prevented gathering at our homes.
Fortunately, our friends at Botanica were willing to help, and the Heartstrings of Hope project was born. We reached out to several other Wichita-are senior living communities who were excited to collaborate with us, and we’re still accepting partners and volunteers for the exhibit.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
We’re creating paper hearts that seniors and caregivers can write words, phrases or pictures on that express their feelings or advice concerning the COVID-19 pandemic. The Engagement team at ComfortCare Homes will collect the hearts from each community and connect them in long chains that will be strung at Botanica. Visitors to the exhibition will walk through rows of heartstrings, reading the inspiring messages and learning about our senior communities. It’s a great way to spread positivity and awareness about these populations at the same time.
