COMFORTCARE HOMES

Designed for Dementia

All the Comforts of Home

At ComfortCare Homes of Wichita, we believe that where you live can impact how you live. Our residences are not just home-like, they are actual homes, and we believe this makes a significant difference when it comes to the comfort of our residents.

Homes are filled with familiar objects, safe and secure backyards with decks or patios for enjoying spring afternoons and homecooked meals—just like our residents may have had while living in their old homes.

Amenities like these are more than a nice idea—on average, they can help to alleviate stress and, in some cases, significantly reduce the need for medications.

Comfort by Design

Whether a remodel or new construction, our residences are designed as homes first. This is important because in typical institutional settings like large nursing homes, many features can exacerbate confusion and stress for people with Alzheimer's or other dementia. For example, overhead sound systems or intercoms are disruptive and out-of-place in a home and aren't conducive to a calm environment where residents with dementia can thrive.

Amenities at ComfortCare Homes vary slightly from residence to residence, but each home shares in common a strong sense of the familiar. When you walk into a ComfortCare Homes residence for the first time, you know where you are because our homes are easy to intuitively understand. The welcoming front door leads into a cozy living room area, with an always-open kitchen just off to the side. Windows let in the light from the backyard gardens. Hallways lead to bedrooms, just like they do in typical houses.
