ComfortCare Homes thanks community partners

The ComfortCare Homes team celebrated their community partners at Botanica the Wichita Gardens August 8.

In it’s eighth year, the BLT sandwich lunch is a highly anticipated late summer event for the CCH team and their community partners.

“We always love seeing and connecting with our community partners,” said Micala Gingrich Gaylord, CEO and president at ComfortCare Homes. “We appreciate their support and commitment to our growth and to serving elders in Wichita.”

Gingrich Gaylord shared some important updates about ComfortCare Homes. Voted Wichita’s Best Memory Care in 2023, ComfortCare Homes opened a third home in West Wichita and completed renovations at two East Wichita homes.

She promised more exciting growth in 2024 as they move their offices from the Equity Bank building after 30 years and launch a free program for the Wichita business community to equip employees to better serve the dementia population.

Team members deliver event invitations with a tomato plant as “save the date” invites. This year, participants were encouraged to send in tomato recipes, which appeared on cards placed on the tables.

“We love hearing from everybody about how well, or not so well, their plants grew,” Gingrich Gaylord said.

Several attendees brought tomatoes for the best tomato contest, with winners voted on by all in attendance. The contest ended in a tie between two entries grown by children and submitted by WINNERS.

More than 75 people attended the event and represented senior care agencies, hospice organizations, medical practices, and community businesses who support ComfortCare Homes’ work.

About ComfortCare Homes

At ComfortCare Homes, our legacy comes from family caregivers who sought a better model of care. Through the experiences of caring for their grandparents, the Stark family developed one of the first residential dementia care programs in the country, inspiring the creation of the HomePlus state accreditation and changing the landscape of professional Alzheimer’s and dementia care in the process.

Alzheimer’s disease affects nearly six million Americans, a population expected to nearly double by 2060. Initially manifesting as a memory disorder, Alzheimer’s is a degenerative form of dementia that can impair cognition as well as physical functioning. The amount and quality of care required by people afflicted by this terrible disease can be considerable, and strain even the most dedicated family caregivers.

Over the 30 years that ComfortCare Homes has been serving our community, we’ve consistently strived to go beyond the basics and provide innovative dementia care for our residents and their families. Throughout our tenure as the region’s premier dementia care provider, our work has been recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association, the State of Kansas and the Wichita Chamber of Commerce, among others.

More than 75 people attended the ComfortCare Homes BLT thank you lunch.
